How to Apply Pain Oil for Better Results
- by Keshav Agarwal
Everything seems difficult when you are in pain, and you turn to pain-relief oil to reduce the pain. But it doesn’t work as much as you thought it would. The reason is that you did not apply pain oil properly. And you might think the kind of pain oil you use is enough, but applying pain oil properly is the key. The process can be more effective if the surface is clean, the amount is correct, the massage is gentle, and it is done on a regular basis.
Begin With Clean, Dry Skin
If you are using pain oil, begin with clean, dry skin. Wash the affected area and pat it dry before application. Sweat, lotion, or dust on the skin can slow absorption and reduce the delivery of the oil to your muscles and joints.
Use the Right Amount
More oil doesn't always mean more relief. In fact, using too much can simply leave your skin greasy without giving you any extra benefit.
A few drops are enough to cover the affected area with a thin layer. If needed, you can apply the oil again later.
Massage, Don't Just Rub
When you simply apply pain oil to your skin, it does not get absorbed, and you are still in pain. The trick is to massage the area with the pain oil to reduce the pain by absorbing under the skin properly. Massage the area for at least 3 to 5 minutes. This can help improve blood flow around the area and allow the oil to work deeper into the muscle tissue.
Apply in the Direction of Muscle Fibres
When experiencing muscular soreness, carefully massage the oil down the length of the muscle rather than rubbing it in random directions. This easy approach helps to uniformly distribute the oil while relieving some of the stiffness in the region. It can be especially useful when your back, shoulders, or calves are hurting, tight, or exhausted.
Time It Right
Pain oil can be applied twice a day, once in the morning to help loosen stiffness and once at night before sleeping.
If your pain flares up after physical activity, you can also apply it after a warm shower. Warm skin can make it easier for the oil to spread across the area.
Cover the Area Lightly
When you are done massaging, you can cover the area with a soft cloth for 10–15 minutes, or you can wear loose clothing. Covering the massage area will add warmth to your skin and help the oil stay on the skin to absorb instead of evaporating quickly.
Be Consistent
One application won't fix chronic pain overnight. Because the pain-relief oil works gradually, using it for a few days consistently can be more useful than using it only when the discomfort is strong.
Rest and mild stretching can also be part of your routine when dealing with joint and muscle discomfort.
Choose Quality Over Quantity
Not all pain oils are made in the same way. A hemp-based pain oil made with natural, lab-tested ingredients can be a better choice than one that is diluted or synthetic.
The key isn't simply how much oil you use. It's also how you use it. Take a little time to apply it properly, massage the area well, and stay consistent.
