How Does CBD Oil Work in the Human Body?
- by Keshav Agarwal
Ever wondered what really happens when you drop a drop of CBD oil under your tongue? CBD oil is not absorbed; instead, CBD oil creates a conversation with your body’s own internal communication network. To learn how CBD oil works in the body, first think about the systems it connects with.
Meet the Endocannabinoid System
Did you know that your body has its own balancing system? It's called the endocannabinoid system, or ECS for short — and scientists found it way before CBD oil became popular!
Think of the ECS like a control center inside you. It helps control your mood, your sleep, how hungry you are, how much pain you feel, and how well your body fights off germs. In fact, it works hard behind the scenes to keep everything working right – like a thermostat in your house that keeps it just the right temperature. There’s still more to learn every day as scientists are still researching how exactly CBD works with this system!
To do its work, the ECS uses special "helpers" called receptors. There are two major ones: CB1 and CB2. You find them all in your brain, your nervous system (which sends messages around your body), and your immune system (which fights off sickness).
• CB1 receptors are primarily located in your brain and nervous system. They help regulate your mood, your memory, and your perception of pain.
• CB2 receptors are mostly found in your immune system. They assist your body in healing and reducing swelling when you are sick or injured.
Where CBD Fits In

CBD does not directly interact with the CB1 and CB2 receptors. Instead, it communicates indirectly with them and may help the body to operate within its own cannabinoid system. CBD also binds to many other receptors in the body. The mechanism of action of CBD's effect on anxiety and mood is believed to involve interactions with serotonin receptors. Areas of interaction with serotonin receptors are credited as one of the methods by which CBD impacts anxiety and mood.
CBD, however, does not take the place of the normal stress, pain, or inflammatory response pathways that the body would utilize on its own. CBD is not a direct replacement, however, due to its activity within these systems.
How CBD Oil Travels Through the Body
When CBD oil is consumed in liquid form, a few drops are put beneath the tongue. CBD can then move throughout the tissues of the mouth and into the circulation. Sublingual CBD products are particularly intended for this sort of use.
When CBD is consumed, it also affects the digestive system. However, the manner in which CBD is absorbed varies depending on how it is consumed. CBD enters the bloodstream and goes throughout the body, interacting with natural processes.
Why Everyone Responds Differently
Every body is unique, and also how it responds to CBD oil. Body weight, metabolism, the severity of the condition at hand, and the quality of the oil can all influence how effectively and soon it works.
That is why starting with a smaller dose and gradually increasing it may be more effective than starting with a large dose. Your body's reaction may differ from someone else's.
Quality matters in so many ways;
Not all CBD oils are the same. A well-processed and pure CBD oil made from high-quality hemp may contain other plant compounds, including THC and terpenes, that can contribute to what is often called the entourage effect.
At the same time, product quality matters because CBD products can vary in their actual CBD content and may contain contaminants.
Cannarma Hemp Extract CBD Oil is made from ethically grown Himalayan hemp, tested for purity, and prepared to be in tune with an individual’s natural systems. When you know what’s happening beneath the surface, taking those few drops each day starts to feel more intentional.
